Broomhill currently has a
serious shortage of open space according to the Sheffield Unitary Development Plan. There
are
about 3500 people living in the catchment area of the Experimental
Gardens, many of them in flats with no outside space, or in terraced or shared houses with
very tiny back yards. The diagram shows all of the residential
addresses that lie within five minutes walk (400m) of the site. Within this zone there is currently only 0.1 Ha of public open space.
